Anchorage Set

1. Anchor Cone (or Guide Cone / Bearing Plate): • Function: It positions the steel tendon inside the concrete block and uniformly guides the massive jacking force to the anchor head. • Importance: Acting as the interface with the concrete, it safely distributes localized stress concentrations to prevent the concrete section from splitting or crushing under intense pressure. They are commonly manufactured using durable materials like cast ductile iron or forged/machined steel. 2. Anchor Head: • Function: A thick steel component containing tapered holes that align with the incoming tendons. • Importance: It holds the stressed tendons permanently in place and directly transfers the post-tensioning force into the anchor cone and surrounding slab. 3. Wedges (Grip Wedges): • Function: Small, conical, multi-part steel pieces with threaded inner jaws that sit inside the tapered holes of the anchor head. • Importance: As the tensioning jack releases its force, the wedges tightly bite down and lock the steel tendon in place to prevent any slippage.
